Moto G3 vs Xiaomi Mi 4i : Comparison of Specs and Features

Famous Tech giants update smart phones every year adding new features to the software and adding specs in the hardware department. Every Company will have a model which represents highest updated specifications that year by the company. Depending on the specifications of the phone, these high end models cost a lot. An average consumer may not want to utilize the processor inside the mobile to it’s maximum extent. There are two devices which fit into this mid-range category got released into market by two different companies. Those are Moto G 3rd generation by Motorola, and Mi 4i by Chinese company Xiaomi. Both are great phones individually, but they also make an interesting comparison too, as they share a common point – price tag. Yes, both devices come at Rs. 12,999/- on flipkart. Design and Display

Mi 4i and G3 both come with plastic body with curved edges. Mi 4i has 5 inch 1080p Full HD screen with 441 ppi and G3 has 5 inch 720 p resolution display.

If you are a display fan, then Mi 4i is the winner for you. It has all new Sunlight display to look bright even on sunlight. It will have nice color production, viewing angles and sharpness. Even though Moto G3 has 720p display, it’s not that bad to look at it on a 5 inch screen. You won’t find a single issue in Moto G3 display. It has got protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Even though both made up of plastic, Mi 4i feels lighter in the hand. It weighs only 130 grams. This may cause the phone to slip sometimes. Even though Moto G3 has more wight on hand (155 grams), it gives good grip while holding it.

Processing Unit and Software

Mi 4i has a 1.7 GHz 2nd-gen Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor with Adreno 405 GPU. It has 2GB RAM and 16 GB storage. This device runs Android Lollipop v5.0.2 having MIUI 6 on top of it.

Coming to Moto G3, it has 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 Quad Core processor with Adreno 306 GPU. It also has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, and it can be expanded up to 32 GB using Micro SD. It runs Android Lollipop V5.1.1.

On specifications side, Xiaomi Mi 4i wins with more processing power. But on software side, it has a customized MIUI 6 on top it, which may lag sometimes. Software side, Moto G3 wins with refreshing Stock Android like experience along with Motorola’s own features such as Moto Assist. The OS is light weight, performs smoothly without any lag and handles multi tasking well, even though it has less processing power compared to Mi4i.

Nevertheless, both devices got nice processing units to give you good experience. Some people might like Pure Android experience, then Moto G3 would win here. If you are okay with customization, then Mi 4i is a great device with processing power.

Camera

Both devices got 13MP primary sensors and 5MP front cameras. Both devices record 1080p HD videos. Coming to camera clarity, Xiaomi Mi 4i gives some great shots than Moto G3. Motorola is trying to improve its camera performance to give some nice experience to its users. That said, Motorola can fix this low quality image processing with just a software update. There is not fault in the camera of this device.

Battery Life

Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with 3030 mAh battery and Moto G3 has 2470 battery. Motorola cut the display resolution to reduce the amount of battery in this device. Since Mi 4i has to handle more pixels in screen and more processing unit, it had bigger battery than Moto G3.

Both devices perform well and give you nice stand by time.

Conclusion

Both devices have pros and cons. If you want a high resolution display, nice camera and more processing power you can choose Xiaomi mi 4i. But if you like Stock android experience and stable device you can choose Moto G3. Both devices would perform well to fulfill your needs.
